Description Set it on the table and the room reorganizes itself around it. Deep violet purpleheart against warm, honeyed canarywood, both with figure that catches the light as you move past it. Built by hand in my Virden, Manitoba woodshop, milled and finished start to finish on the Canadian prairie. Purpleheart deepens from a dull grey-brown to rich violet as it meets daylight, and canarywood carries golden-orange streaks no two boards ever share, so the contrast is genuinely yours. Both are solid hardwood, not a veneer skin over MDF like most “premium” boards near this price. The squares are framed by a thin purpleheart band and a wider canarywood border, and the whole surface is finished with two coats of a hardening oil to wake up the grain, then sealed with a double coat of a graphene top coat — a tough, modern finish that shrugs off moisture and the scuffs of everyday play. What’s included One solid figured purpleheart & canarywood chess board, 17½″ × 17½″ × ½″, 4.35 lb 2″ playing squares Hand-oiled and sealed with a durable graphene top coat Cork feet to protect your table Board only — chessmen not included A board that suits a milestone birthday, a retirement, a wedding, or a head-of-the-table gift for the player who owns every set but no board worth the pieces. Care Wipe with a soft, barely-damp cloth and dry it flat. The graphene-sealed surface is low-maintenance — no regular re-oiling needed. Keep it out of prolonged direct sunlight to hold the purpleheart’s deep violet, and it outlasts the player. Shipping & arrival Ships from Manitoba via Canada Post, carefully boxed. This is one-of-one stock — once it sells, the next board carries its own grain. Built by me, one at a time, in my Virden, Manitoba shop. Questions before you buy? Send a message.
